October was a very busy month in Junior Infants. Our theme this month was houses and homes. We learned about the different rooms in houses, and activities we do in these rooms. During playtime we took on different roles of the family in our role play area. In the construction area we built houses. In the creative area we used playdough on house playdough mats. In the small world area we had a doll house and used our small people to create scenarios in the house. The sand play was also lots of fun!
We also used fabric and fibre to decorate a template of a house!
We also learned about hedgehogs this month. We learned lots of interesting facts, and that the hedgehog is getting ready for hibernation. We painted a picture of a hedgehog and used forks to create the spines. We learned about Autumn colours and painted Autumn leaves around the hedgehog.
As Halloween was coming we had a dress up day on the last day before the midterm. We all looked fantastic and had lots of fun!
